The Innovation Festival 2025 taking place on Thursday, June 5th at TalTech will focus on the role of breakthrough technologies in society. During the festival, the Estonian chip center will be opened in cooperation with Metrosert and EIS.

One of the day’s key events is the official opening of the chip center at 1:55 PM. The center, created in cooperation with Metrosert, EIS (Enterprise Estonia – Foundation for Enterprise and Innovation) and the Estonian Electronics Industry Association, marks an important step in the development of Estonian microelectronics and chip technologies and strengthens our position in the global technology space. Supercomputers and chip technologies are becoming increasingly important in building future solutions, and the new chip center creates the necessary support and development opportunities for this in Estonia.
For the opening, there will be a discussion “Estonian chip center: for whom and for what?”, where views and experiences will be shared by:
- Jaan Raik, Full Professor at the Institute of Computer Systems and chip center coordinator
- Andres Mellik, Metrosert chip center program manager
- Rainer Kivimäe, Metrosert drone technologies domain leader
- Vahur Kampus, Electronics engineer at the Thomas Johann Seebeck Institute of Electronics
The discussion will be moderated by Kristjan Kaunissaare, EIS project manager (chip technology and design).
This year’s TalTech Innovation Festival is led by Startup Estonia head Vaido Mikheim, with Henrik Friman and Pekka Manninen as keynote speakers. Additionally, several TalTech researchers, alumni and cooperation partnerswill share their knowledge.
The event welcomes both industry specialists, public and private sector leaders as well as students, alumni and all interested parties.
